Reconnected: Spotlight on Business in the Community

Earlier this month, we relaunched our Reconnected programme, enabling disadvantaged people to get connected. We’ve seen a great response to the programme so far, having successfully paired dozens of handsets with new owners to support their digital journey.

It’s a real team effort between those who donate handsets, the role that Three plays as well as our charity partners who work to make this happen.  We wanted to shine a spotlight on each of the three charities that we are working with who help to make everything possible and tell you more about them. This spotlight is on Business in the community

Who are Business in the Community?

Last year, we joined with Business in the Community (BITC), who are the largest and longest-established business-led network, dedicated to responsible business. They were founded 40 years ago by HRH The Prince of Wales and have a membership of over 600 businesses across Britain and Northern Ireland, with each committed to embedding and improving their responsible business practice. We signed BITC’s Race at Work Charter and continue to collaborate with them, with a particular focus on our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives. You can read more about our journey together here.

How we are working together

BITC was one of our original partners when we first launched Reconnected back in 2017. We are really pleased to be continuing this partnership that will see us continue to support their national programme ‘Ready to Work’ to help disadvantaged people struggling to get employment.

The initiative was first launched in 2001 and aims at tackling major challenges to basic employment, such as homelessness, criminal records and no education. The programme offers a sustainable route out of poverty for many by creating meaningful employment and offering quality work experience.

We hope we can make things a little easier by providing devices along with 6 months Unlimited data, calls, and texts on Three.

How can I help?

As we mentioned in our relaunch, we know that a staggering 1.9million households don’t have access to the internet. So if you have an old handset lying around that you no longer need or you’re thinking of upgrading your device, we would love you to consider donating it through Reconnected.
