My Life Through the Lens: Angela Christie

As part of our new ‘My life through the lens’ series, we’re discovering how our people ‘live their best phone lives’. The new series is all about learning more about how some of the moments saved on our phones have shaped our people and how they contribute to #LifeAtThree.

Today we’re getting to know Angela Christie

Tell us about early Angela, what’s an early memory and what was she like?
Think my youngest memory was trying to ‘help’ my brother sleep when he was a baby. The helping involved placing my favourite cuddly toy over his face, I wasn’t happy sharing my gran and grandpa with anyone. My dad said this is where I perfected my death stare, as my brother got this anytime he went near them.  I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I was a very strong-willed independent child, my favourite sentence was ‘I can do it myself’!!

When you were a child, what did you see yourself doing?
I wanted to be a forensic pathologist from the age of 13, so I thought reading every crime book about serial killers would qualify me for the role. My 3 Highers were not enough for me to study this, much to my parents’ relief, especially my mum who was horrified her ‘angelic’ daughter was obsessed with serial killers. I ended up being a qualified nursery teacher, which couldn’t be further from my dream job. My love of reading about serial killers hasn’t subsided though, the nature/nurture debate fascinates me.

How did you get into your role?
I started in Three 8 years ago next month. Originally working in CRT, then progressed into the Executive Office before joining the Business area just over 2 years ago. I had previously worked in corporate business for 14 years with EE, so when I saw that a Business team was being put together, I jumped at the chance to join. I originally joined the team as a Business Operations Associate and moved into the new Customer Success Role a few months ago.

If you had one photo to sum up how you’ve lived your best phone life, what would it be and why?
I can’t choose between them so I’m going with two pics. My best Princess Diana pose at the Taj Mahal and my 5 minutes of fame being on the front cover of the Proclaimers album.

What has been a career highlight so far?
Definitely has to be joining the Business area, being in from the early days it’s been great watching the teams grow. We have the best people, everyone is so supportive and it feels like one big family. I’m now involved with the newest team, CSM, and it’s really exciting being involved in how we manage our larger business customers. We are only going to get bigger and I’m so proud to be part of this journey.

What do you like to do outside of #LifeAtThree?
Anyone that knows me will find this no surprise that I love a night out. My friends are my family and I just love being surrounded by all my amazing friends, be it a festival, holiday, night out or our new adult activity, camping. I would love to say I camp, but I’m more of a glamper in a camper van. Being surrounded by good people makes you forget any bad days you may have. My dad always said to me, I as born 3 weeks early on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm so I could get out on the Saturday night, and I’ve never changed haha 😊
