Three UK helps over 10,000 consumers improve their digital skills in one year


Three UK has in the last year helped to improve the digital skills of over 10,000 people across the UK as part of its Discovery programme.

Since the programme launched bespoke sessions have been available across 134 stores. Sessions include basic training on how to use your smartphone and smartphone photography sessions to more complex topics such as using the cloud and online safety. Discovery sessions are free and available to all members of the public, not just Three customers and aim to help local communities enhance their everyday life through their mobile device.

Three’s Discovery programme has partnered with several local charities and community organisations including NHS Carmarthenshire, Age UK Islington, Communities First, Enterprise Cube and Strive.

Sessions are currently available in Islington and Swansea. In Islington, Three has partnered with Islington council and SHP, a local charity that supports unemployed and vulnerable people in north London learn crucial digital skills to help them back to work. Sessions include learning about basic web searches and understanding apps as well as CV writing and how to apply for jobs online. The project forms part of Go ON Islington, a borough-wide initiative created to improve the digital fluency of residents.

In Swansea, Three ran coding session for children from the Pen-Y-Bryn Special Needs School on the 20th March. As part of the session, students learnt how to build and create games using apps during the interactive session.

Having helped over 10,000 people in the last year, we will continue to roll out sessions across the UK to bridge the digital gap, getting more people online and making the most of their mobiles and tablets.”
