Three helps Brits fake it this summer
With holiday season around the corner and nine in ten Brits using their smartphone to take photos of their travels*, there’s bound to be an epidemic of fear of missing out (FOMO) spreading across the country, as Twitter and Instagram feeds become swamped with pictures of friends and family enjoying themselves abroad.
Those that aren’t spending their summers sailing around St Tropez or getting away to the Galapagos shouldn’t fear, as Three has revealed the top places to trick your friends into thinking you’re abroad this summer with no need to even leave the country, in a newly commissioned list of ‘Top 10 UK Holiday Fake Spots’.
The list consists of 10 different locations spanning right across the UK – from the Scottish Highlands right down to the beaches of Cornwall – that bear an uncanny resemblance to foreign destinations. By visiting one of the sites, you’ll be able to up jazz up your social media feed and trick your friends into thinking you’ve jetted off somewhere exotic, without actually having set foot out of the UK.
The Top 10 list in full is:

Camel Valley Vineyard, Cornwall |

The list has been created to mark the launch of Three’s new Essential Plans – a cost-effective set of tariffs that gives customers the freedom to select a plan that offers all the basics they need, without having to pay for the stuff they don’t.
Danny Dixon, Director of Customer Strategy at Three said: ““It’s easy to forget about the immense amount of beauty – both natural and man-made – prevalent across the UK that, if set in a more glamorous holiday destination, would probably get a lot more social media love than it currently does. The list we’ve created aims to celebrate some of these sites, while also providing people that aren’t able to get away this summer with a fun way of tricking friends into thinking they’ve jetted off abroad.
Danny continued: “The activity is inspired by the introduction of our new range of Essential Plans which set out to account for the needs of customers that require a no-frills contract, by stripping away some of Three’s standard perks, such as using your phone abroad at no extra cost with Feel At Home, in return for a more cost-effective option.”
