Three rewards latest Community Fund beneficiaries
We’re excited to announce the latest winners of the Community Fund! These grants, totalling £5,000, were awarded to five incredible charitable organisations, all nominated by our people.
A huge congratulations to our Q3 winners!
£2,000 award – Charity Begins at Home
Charity Begins at Home began their London-based Friday Food Distribution in 2016 and have provided food, clothing, and essentials to those in need ever since.
The charity was nominated by two employees, who both volunteer every week at the charity’s hub in London.
Nominated by Natalia Mercer and John Horton
Natalia says: “Every Friday I volunteer with this charity to provide hot meals, fruit, breakfast items, snacks, and drinks to people facing food insecurity. Recently, we have experienced a significant increase in the number of individuals seeking assistance due to financial crises. Our primary goal is to ensure that these individuals have enough food to get through the next 24 hours.”
£1,000 award – Side by Side Theatre
Side by Side is a Leamington Spa based charity that develops and produces inclusive theatre involving adults with and without learning disabilities or neurodiversity. Each show, like the performers, is unique.
Nominated by David Martin
David has volunteered at the theatre company for the last eight years, supporting the students on and off stage. David says: “It is pure joy. I have such a lot of fun and the students and supporters are all one big family so it’s a really special company to be a part of.”
£1,000 award – Camp Mohawk
Based in Berkshire, Camp Mohawk is a multi-functional day centre providing a “safe haven” for children with special needs and their families. It offers both indoor and outdoor facilities where children can relax, play, and develop social skills.
Nominated by Liv Parr
Liv’s son Elliot has been going to Camp Mohawk for the last three years. Liv says: “Elliot loves going there and feels like he can be himself, and has even made like-minded friends from attending the centre.”
£500 award – Dumfries and Galloway SANDS
Dumfries and Galloway SANDS supports bereaved families by providing memory boxes and creating dedicated spaces, like the Rainbow Room at the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary Women’s Unit.
Nominated by Adam Kerr
Adam has a personal connection to the charity after losing their baby boy Thomas at 17 weeks in September. He has recently raised over £700 for the branch by doing a sponsored hill walk.
Adam says: “Thank you so much. The SANDS group helped to provide for the Rainbow Room where we spent some time with Thomas and made some lovely memories.”
£500 award – Level Water
Level Water provides one-to-one swimming lessons for children with disabilities, helping them build confidence, independence, and physical strength.
Nominated by Kate Edwards
Kate Edwards, who is an RLSS open water lifeguard, nominated Level Water. Kate recently took part in a 24 hour swim relay to raise funds for the charity.
Kate says: “It was an exhausting event but so totally worthwhile. Hearing stories of the children who benefit from swimming lessons made a 2am very cold hour long swim much more bearable!”
How to Apply
If you’re a charitable organisation or group that would like to be considered for a Community Fund donation, you will need to be nominated by a current Three UK employee.
Congratulations to all winners and thank you to all our applicants.
