Three Discovery brings AI education to 40+ schools for Safer Internet Day

Each year, Three Discovery uses Safer Internet Day as an opportunity to address some of the biggest topics affecting young people’s online safety,

With this year’s theme being ‘Smart tech, safe choices: Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI’ – and 81% of children aged 11-16 saying they use the technology – it’s no surprise that Artificial Intelligence (AI) took centre stage in 2026.

With AI becoming just another part of daily life for young people, Discovery visited more than 40 schools to help educate both teachers and their classes on the benefits and risks that the technology can pose.

Through almost 200 workshops, the team communicated the importance of using AI safely and responsibly, providing schools with free educational resources that can help them continue the conversation throughout the school year.

Resources covered a range of issues, from voice assistants and chatbots to the ethical considerations involved in using AI, alongside a themed assembly that specially focused on ChatGPT.

In doing so Discovery helped reach roughly 23,500 primary school students, and more than 1,500 teachers, while also providing tailored advice for parents, carers and grandparents.

Becky Bond, Year 6 teacher and computing lead, Cookham Rise Primary School, said: “Our iPad skills have been massively enhanced by working in partnership with Three.

“Every time they visit, our school community develop our digital literacy skills and love the opportunity to be creative.

“This year, as part of Safer Internet Day, our children created adverts and news-reels about AI, thinking about its time-saving benefits, as well as the risks of bias and incorrect information from the models used.”
