Day in the Life

As part of our new ‘Day in the life’ series, we’re interviewing employees of all levels, across all areas of the business to learn a bit more about them and how we all work together here at Three.

Today we’re getting to know Christopher Lee

Vital stats:

  • Name:  Christopher Lee
  • Job title: Senior Manager of Partner Sales
  • Function: Business
  • Tenure: Just under 5 years at Three, in current role since April 21

Tell us a bit about yourself I grew up and still live on the south coast of England between Brighton and Eastbourne. I live with my wife Esther and our 2 cats Henry and Hetty. I started my career in Mobile working in retail for The Link in 2004. In 2006 I moved to Vodafone starting in field marketing before making the move to Indirect B2B in 2008. I joined Three’s Wholesale team in 2017 mainly managing the IoT/M2M Partners, moving to restart the Partner B2B Channel in April 2021.

In a nutshell, describe your role and how you support our business objectives – My current role is to build and support the Partner channel within the Business team supporting our company objectives. We relaunched the Channel in August after rebuilding and simplifying many processes and aligning our offering to that of the other networks. The purpose of the Channel is to sell to and manage B2B customers that Three’s other Channels are not able to currently address. They give us an existing B2B sales team and geographic coverage where we only pay for performance allowing us to scale up as we need.

What does a typical day look like in your role? While everyday has different activities they are all centred on the Partners. I am busy supporting our existing Partners helping them sell and support Three’s B2B services to their customers. As well as the existing Partners we are working with a selected number of new Partners to bring them on board. In terms of locations this is a mixture of coming to our great new office, working from home and visiting Partners.

What is on the cards for the first quarter of 2022 in your world? 2022 is all about building the Channel with many more new Partners either directly or via our Distribution Partners. More Partners leads to greater sales allowing Three access to more customers by giving us greater geographic and vertical coverage.

How have you found returning to the office? While I have had field-based roles since leaving retail in 2006, during lock down I really missed meeting up with colleagues and Partners face to face. Getting back into the office has let me meet the teams that support me and the Partner Channel. Coming back has been great and I really enjoyed my visits to Green Park. This an office I’m proud to invite our Partners to come to and meet with us.

How have you supported your personal wellbeing during the past 18 months?  One tool that I have found very useful is ‘Sleep Music’ within the Headspace app as it really helps calm my mind allowing me to fall asleep quickly and hopefully get a good night’s sleep. This is essential for my wellbeing.

Give us a fun fact… I was due to get married in April 2020 with all the venues booked and invitations sent etc. but as we all know now that wasn’t to be. After several weeks without being even able to see my now wife as we lived far from each other we were able to finally look at how and when we could get married. On August 8th the venue kindly opened up just for us, registrars and 2 witnesses to carry out a short marriage ceremony and the paperwork. We had a very cut down celebration with small groups over the day and even some wedding photos at our friend’s new beach hut, meaning we have some very different and unique wedding photos.
