Celebrating our 2023 All Stars: Mason Noble
At Three, we know the importance of recognising our people. Our 3Celebrates programme is our way of celebrating our people for living our values.
Throughout the year, employees send each other ‘thank you’ cards to show their appreciation of the work they have done. Anyone who receives a thanks can be selected as a Monthly Star, Annual Star or All Star and can receive special recognition along with financial awards.
At the end of last year, we announced our 2023 All Stars. Our All Stars are the individuals, stores and teams who truly excelled in living our Values.
All Stars were nominated by the Leadership teams and all their Thanks were reviewed by a judging panel of people from across the business.
Becoming an All Star is an amazing achievement, and we want to celebrate and learn more about the winners. Over the coming year, we’ll be interviewing our 2023 All Stars and the next in our series is Mason Noble.
Mason was nominated because he and his team had an outstanding 2023. When listing all of his accomplishments for this year, it became very apparent the impact that he has had not just across the area but across the region as well. Mason has led the team brilliantly and his development as a leader of his team has been a pleasure to watch. Mason’s store has also performed brilliantly commercially and Mason has also led calls each week in the area with his role as commercial guru. He brings so much energy and enthusiasm to his role and the feedback from his colleagues and wider parts of the business has been amazing.
Tell us about your role and your career to date at Three?
I’ve been with Three now for almost 9 years, I started out as a 16 hour advisor in Sheffield Crystal Peaks before moving up to 24 hours Finally 30 Hours. Before heading into my first Assistant Manager job in Chesterfield. I Then my way over to band 1 Sheffield Fargate as ASM before a year in Nottingham where I spent time in both stores, Clumber Street as ASM and finally Vic Centre for my first SM Role. Finally I made my way back home to Manage Sheffield Fargate where we won Regional Store for 2023!
How did being awarded an All Star make you feel and what does it mean to you?
Its Huge, Its yet another accomplishment to mark off on what’s been an incredible journey within my time at Three. I feel its the icing on the cake after what’s been my best year! It really means the world to know I have the support of those around me and that the work I put in has been recognised. I put everything into my job so being recognised for this is amazing.
What are your favourite things about working at Three?
Always will be the people. We have an amazing range of people throughout the business and I’m lucky enough to get to spend time with people from Retail and Head office from different roles and responsibilities. The environment we create in retail and across area 7 especially is really excellent as it truly is One Team.
What do our values mean to you and which one do you most connect with?
Our values give us a clear picture of what we are here to achieve as a business, This stems to individuals who then create their own way of articulating this. For me Going Beyond the Expected is a standout. I’m never satisfied with good. I believe you get out what you put in. The bigger the effort the bigger the reward. I pride myself on getting out of my comfort zone and taking on roles and responsibilities above what is expected of me and feel this has been a key to my success in 2023.
What is the best career advice you ever received?
“If you know what you want, it’s only a question of whether you’re willing to pay the price to get there.” Simply put, If you have a goal work for it, no one will do the work for you.
How do you unwind/switch off from work?
Now this is a trick question. Probably my biggest downfall is, I don’t. However I’m working on it! I enjoy going to the gym and this is probably my only example of unwinding/switching off.
Have you any plans for spending your All Star award?
New house accessories! Plenty of bits to buy in advance of moving do that’s the plan.
How does receiving a 3celebrates make you feel and what do you like about the platform?
I love three celebrates. I love receiving thanks, I love knowing my work is appreciated and I know others do too. It’s simple and effective but really can make the difference and the motivation it can bring should not be underestimated.
How do you ensure you use 3Celebrates to give back to your colleagues often?
I ensure every month I’m sending multiple cards, I even make a list in my notes of who I want to thank and why and have a date for every month where I sit and send my thanks. I feel it’s just a great way of thanking someone for all to see and adds that little extra bit of pride when that then turns into a monthly award. This is an excellent motivator for most and such an easy way to put a smile on someone’s face!
