Celebrating our 2023 All Stars: Brinda Tyler.

At Three, we know the importance of recognising our people. Our 3Celebrates programme is our way of celebrating our people for living our values.

Throughout the year, employees send each other ‘thank you’ cards to show their appreciation of the work they have done. Anyone who receives a thanks can be selected as a Monthly Star, Annual Star or All Star and can receive special recognition along with financial awards.

At the end of last year, we announced our 2023 All Stars. Our All Stars are the individuals, stores and teams who truly excelled in living our Values.

All Stars were nominated by the Leadership teams and all their Thanks were reviewed by a judging panel of people from across the business.

Becoming an All Star is an amazing achievement, and we want to celebrate and learn more about the winners. Over the coming year, we’ll be interviewing our 2023 All Stars and the next in our series is Brinda Tyler, who was a part of the team All Star for the Green Car Scheme.

The Green Car team are a cross functional team and showed true collaborations across Finance, Technology, Legal, People & Communications. They displayed perseverance, collaboration, hard work and ability to go above and beyond to deliver the scheme to our people. The cards show how much their hard work was appreciated.

Tell us about your role and your career to date at Three.

I’ve been working at Three for 5 years, having started my career in Digital looking after the communications strategy for wuntu, the previous Loyalty app.  Since then I’ve moved into various Marketing and Commercial roles. In 2021 I took a secondment in the People team leading Rewards and Benefits in the UK& ROI where I worked on the Green Cars project. This was an area I was keen to explore after working closely with the People team in the first DIB steerco and co-chairing the Ethnic & Cultural Diversity network. I am now back in the CVM team looking after Strategy & Planning.

How did being awarded an All Star as a member of a team (for the Green Car scheme) make you feel and what does it mean to you?

Being awarded an All Star has meant a lot to me. As the business owner of Green Cars I wanted to ensure that our employees received the best possible scheme they could, with a stress-free experience and a benefit that was future-proof despite any changes in circumstance they might experience. Seeing the uptake on the scheme and the positive verbatim has been hugely rewarding, and having completed this while on secondment has given me confidence in taking on new challenges.

What are your favourite things about working at Three?

Having been in many roles across Three, the people here make it a great place to work and I’ve been lucky to have many supportive colleagues and managers who I have learnt a lot from.

What do our values mean to you and which one do you most connect with?

For me it’s ‘We focus on the customer’ I think this is at the core of Three, making sure that the customer has the best experience and that we work to ask the difficult questions so they don’t have to.

What is the best career advice you ever received?

I would say it was to not be afraid of failure, seek out new experiences that expand your skill set.

How do you unwind/switch off from work?

I enjoy being in nature and outdoors, so a long walk with my dog by the river is usually my go to.

Have you any plans for spending your All Star award?

I love travelling and so will be putting this towards a new adventure in 2024.

How does receiving a 3celebrates make you feel and what do you like about the platform?

It’s always nice to know that your hard work is paying off, especially on your most challenging days, it can turn a day around. I think it’s great that on the platform we can recognise teams as well as individuals.

How do you ensure you use 3Celebrates to give back to your colleagues often?

I usually set a reminder for the end of each month to send out all my thank you cards, to make sure I don’t forget
