Artist transforms Chelsea FC Women heroes using unique paper cut-outs

Rich McCor, better known as @Paperboyo, has collaborated with Chelsea FC’s shirt sponsor, Three to celebrate the start of the new Women’s Super League (WSL) season, transforming the players into his clever paper creations

September 05, 2020, London – The mobile network Three has teamed up with Instagram artist and photographer Rich McCor, aka @Paperboyo, to create a selection of distinctive football focused images to celebrate the start of the new 2020/21 WSL season that kicks off today. Three is the principal shirt sponsor for Chelsea FC Women as they start the defence of their title away to Manchester United tomorrow. It will be the first time the women’s team has played in the league with their newly sponsored shirts.

Rich has used three of the Chelsea FC Women’s players and placed them in some iconic areas to showcase his paper and perspective creativity.

The first image sees Beth England scoring using the iconic Hulme Bridge in Manchester as a goal, something Chelsea fans will be hoping to see this weekend! In the second image, goalkeeper Carly Telford is saving a shot in front of the iconic Out of Order tumbling down phone boxes sculpture in Kingston – just down the road from Chelsea’s home, Kingsmeadow. The final image has Sam Kerr sat poignantly in the changing room getting ready for matchday – wearing the famous blue kit.

The artwork, commissioned by Three UK, aims to celebrate the return of women’s football and raise further awareness of the women’s game to those that don’t necessarily even follow sport.
